Today, Calvin and I headed over to our local mall for a Safety Day event.
He got to run through the safety village.
Here he is coloring pictures about bike helmet safety.
He got to sit in a police off-road vehicle.
It was quite the attraction.
There were all sorts of stickers and coloring books being handed out.
And a real police dog to pet (Calvin tried to ride it).
His favorite part of the day was a tennis lesson.
It had nothing to do with safety but they were so impressed with his ability to hit a tennis ball (he kept hitting it over her head) that they want him to come for lessons this summer even though the beginner age is 3.
He also loved the Home Depot exhibit when he got to hammer real nails with a real hammer and make a tool box.
His was also VERY excited to get to "drive" this Red Cross truck. The man was happy someone wanted to go in his truck (the fire engines and police cars got all the attention). He let Calvin hit the siren button (repeatedly) and talk into the loud speaker (which then drew tons of kids in his truck, also wanting to talk into the loud speaker).
I think it's kinda appropriate for Calvin to be driving a "Disaster Relief" truck, given that he usually brings a little bit of disaster with him everywhere he goes.
Do we feel safer? Not really. Did he nap well? Absolutely. Mission: accomplished.
