Chick Magnet

Calvin has been attracting the little ladies lately. 

He was innocently playing on this car at a playground when

 this little girl showed up and hung out with Calvin,

 which made Calvin happy.

 And then we were at the zoo and this little girl came up to Calvin

 and started kissing him.

 And hugging him.

 At first he was hesitant but then he couldn't get enough,

 even when she had had plenty of hugs.

Someday he'll learn. Maybe.

Party Time

We went to Lake Geneva this weekend for the long holiday weekend and had a little family get-together for Calvin's birthday. 

There was lots of playtime with Grandpa David and Grandma Sarah. 

 There were some presents to open.

  Some messes to be made.

 Some food to be eaten.

 Some more presents to be opened and played with.

 Some cake to be made (first cake decorating ever for this new momma).

 Some candles to be lit (Uncle David is trying to shield the candles from the wind, not keep warm by the flames).

 One particular song to be sung.

 And some cake and ice cream to be eaten.

 Or played with.

 Or offered to others.

 Calvin also got to go to his first Hosta Fest.

 And go to the log cabin

 and drag his Aunt Marty all over.

What a nice weekend!

Host with the Most

A few weeks ago, Calvin hosted a play date at his house. 

We were watching Amelia for her mommy as a birthday present for her.

 She spent a good chunk of time holding on to the rocker but was a little angel.

She kept her distance from these 3 brutes, I mean, boys.

 Calvin and Chip had a showdown in the kitchen.

 Both wanted to play with the gate.

 Chip had the disadvantage of trying to hold on to the ball.

 Ended up having to remove them both from the kitchen.

 Back on the porch, Amelia was still hanging out at the rocker.

 Calvin tried to coax her away.

 Millie tried to join in, too.

 Still stuck to the rocker, Calvin decided that he would have to hang out there if he wanted to be with Amelia.

 And that was enough for her to venture away.

 Finally the other girl, Collete, arrived so Amelia wasn't the only girl.

 Amelia got so brave she made it all the way to the back door to play with the ball...

... which Calvin promptly took from her.

 Collete and Calvin watched as their buddies left.

What a great playdate!

Today is Your Birthday!

SO we have reached one year. What a crazy ride it has been! Crazy and wonderful and scary and exciting and fun and more fun and more fun!

Today Calvin and Chip headed to the park (as always Chip was dressed for summer and Calvin for winter)

and saw Colette, who has the same birthday as Calvin!

 Calvin got into a little bit of the sand. :)

 We stopped for a photo shoot on the way home.

 Calvin got to have a birthday wish and play with the pots and pans to his heart's content.

 Chip dropped off some balloons and they were a big hit!

 And we started the process of opening gifts, starting with the one sent from Grandma and Grandpa Sherman.

 We had to check out the great card that made monkey noises.

We had a great birthday and Mommy and Daddy got to go out for an anniversary dinner, too!
