More Winter Fun

So this winter may never end, so may as well enjoy it, right?
We went to Lake Geneva last weekend and went to a winter kite festival.
It was a beautiful but chilly day. Calvin borrowed Grandma Sarah's scarf.
The kites were huge so you could see them from very far away.

We brought the sled to help keep us moving.
Calvin was enjoying climbing on the abundant snow piles.

Calvin discovered sliding on the ice.
He actually loved to slip and slide and fall on it over and over.

Sometimes Calvin felt the need to lay down, which made it look like he was either napping or injured.

With some help to get to the top of more snow,
 Calvin liked to run down
and fall in to the snow
 intentionally.

Very pretty and fun!

Basement

So, we have had a project in the works for quite some time and here it is in fast forward.  The basement playroom!
After much hard work, Todd got all the demolition, framing, electrical, and insulation work done (plus both of us reorganizing all the junk we had down there).

 Then came the drywall.

And doors (Todd did not do the drywall but did hang the doors).
Todd had also took down a portion of the wall next to the stairwell and installed the railing.
Finally, the carpet installers installers came.
 They were noisy
 but fascinating.

 Beautiful and so cozy!
Calvin was thrilled with the carpet (doing snow angels here).
Millie (the hardwood hater) loves it, too.
Last week, the sofa arrived. It's a sleeper sofa, so come and spend the night in the nicest room in our house!
Yesterday, we had our first official playdate in the basement. This scene took under 5 minutes to happen.
Still a few details to finish but we are loving it! Soooo grateful for all of Todd's hard work!

Valentine's Day

We hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day! I got to help out in Calvin's preschool class the day they had their party.
It was so fun to play with Calvin and his friends in the room.
It was finally warm enough to go outside so I got the pleasure of helping these kiddos get all bundled up. We attempted to have them all sit their cubbies before lining up.
 Then we headed outside.
The kids had a great time in the freshly fallen snow.

Of course as a few kids wanted to play in the ice filled boat,
then they ALL wanted to be in it all at the same time.
Back in the room, there were crafts
and I got to help them pass out their valentines.
Then they got a little snack to end their day.
Very cute and fun!

Visitors

We were so happy that Grandma Happy and Pop-Pop came for a visit last weekend!
Knowing that Calvin loves trains, they got him his own conductors hat and scarf complete with whistle.
Calvin showed Grandma Happy how he loves to draw on his easel
 and do lots of puzzles.
 LOTS of puzzles.
On Saturday, we took them to a winter festival.
 There was food
 and music
 and a sleigh ride.
We went for a ride and this was our view.
 But it was very fun.
Bundling up was very necessary out there.

Calvin found ways to warm up inside.
On Sunday we took them to "Music for Munchkins" at the local high school.
The kids got to try out the instruments
 and make crafts.

Then they were ready to go see the show.
Well, after a little running around.
 Let the show begin.
After a cute little play (during which the boys were surprisingly good),
They had to get out some more energy.
A very fun visit with Grandma Happy and Pop-Pop!
