Two Museum Tuesday

On Tuesday, Calvin and I figured out the bus system in San Diego (with the help of a very nice driver).

We were very relieved to finally be on the right bus (well, I was at least).
Then Calvin fell asleep so I got to wander through a rose garden while he napped.

He woke up ready for some fun.
He insisted on looking at the map to try to show me where to go.
We headed to the model train museum.
There were so many trains to watch.
And quite a few Thomas the Train stations throughout to keep little hands busy.

There were so many great displays to looks at.

And more Thomas to play with.
And he was able to make this Thomas go with the push of a button.
And it had a great play room at the end.
 It even had crafts!
Then we met Uncle Cris at the Science Center.

Talk about a place with a LOT to do!

He loved this one because it had little balls to roll around.
And this one in the kids area because it had tons of balls to put in different tubes.
He waited very patiently for his turn to drive the firetruck.

Uncle Cris and Calvin worked the assembly line together.
This next one may have been his favorite.

Lastly was a remote controlled helicopter dance display thing.
I didn't really get it but Calvin was memorized.
After that came a quick trip to a park
and then he got to check out Petco Park.

These were the pictures before his meltdown that he couldn't play baseball on the field.
Another great day!

Alone in a New City

While in San Diego, Monday was the first day Calvin and I ventured out on our own. First we headed to the New Children's Museum.
Calvin was happy to have a place to really burn some energy.

He got to tap into his artistic side with some drawing,
 clay sculpting,
 and painting.
His favorite space was "the kitchen sink" play area.
He got to to ride in a watermelon boat, climb in cheese,
 and rock on an avocado.

He loved this inflatable area, too.
The bubble table was fun, too (but rather messy/wet).
After lunch, we ventured onto the water
 and took the ferry
 to Coronado Island.
As we pulled up, Calvin said "May I play at that beach, please?"
As Calvin napped, I walked us over to the other side of the island to see the famous Hotel del Coronado.
Calvin woke up at a different beach
and was happy to check out this one, too.

We worked our way back to the ferry dock to meet
 Daddy!
Calvin had him check out the water before dinner.
After dinner, we took the ferry back "home".
Another busy, exhausting, but fun, day!

Sand Diego Day 2, Part 2

Back to our trip.
We checked out the USS Midway after Calvin's nap.
Calvin loved going through all the hallways
 and checking everything out.

 He practiced tying knots
 and raising the anchors.
Calvin liked this chair, even though no one would ever put this crazy kid in charge of safety.
He loved climbing in the planes

 and helicopters.
He could have spent all day just in this helicopter.

He boarded and exited more times then I could count.
The more buttons to push, the better.

That night we met up with Uncle Cris.
Calvin was not about to sit still for a photo but Uncle Cris found a way to keep him in one place.
A great second day!
