On the Fence

Back to the yard work. After the sod went in, Grandpa David came up to help put up the rails.
Calvin helped keep track of the extra pieces of wood.
"Where did it go?" (Or "Weredgo?" as Calvin says it, complete with hand gesture thanks to Auntie Erin).
 Calvin offering to help.
 After rails came pickets.
 Calvin loves his new backyard!
Here you can see the pickets and the gate Todd made.
Here you can see the privacy fence, most of the backyard's grass and the patio. And the boys working on a project.
The garden beds are still a work in progress (thanks to Mr. Calvin "I don't want to nap anymore" Sherman).

Hide N Seek

So, I've been told I only put pictures of Calvin when he is happy. So here's an entry of him being unhappy. The other day Calvin was eating a cracker and started to get upset. When I came to see why, it was because he couldn't find where his cracker had gone.

 Can you find it?
 Still can't find it?
 Look again.
Yes, it was on top of his head. And the other half was hidden in his seat belt.

I know it seems mean that I took pictures instead of helping him, but the pictures were quick and then I helped him.
Here is a happy picture to end on a smiley note.

Yardwork Continued

Back to the work we've been doing on the yard.
After Easter, things started moving along.

After clearing out the yard, they put down the gravel to go under the paver stones.

Then they started to lay the stone.

Once the pavers were done, Todd and Ross started on the fence posts.

Calvin loved always having things to watch out the windows.
After the posts, came the topsoil and mulch.
And here is a cute Calvin picture so this entry wasn't completely boring for you all. :)

Chick Magnet

Calvin has been attracting the little ladies lately.
He was innocently playing on this car at a playground when
this little girl showed up and hung out with Calvin,
 which made Calvin happy.
And then we were at the zoo and this little girl came up to Calvin
 and started kissing him.
 And hugging him.
At first he was hesitant but then he couldn't get enough,
even when she had had plenty of hugs.
Someday he'll learn. Maybe.

Party Time

We went to Lake Geneva this weekend for the long holiday weekend and had a little family get-together for Calvin's birthday.
There was lots of playtime with Grandpa David and Grandma Sarah.
There were some presents to open.
  Some messes to be made.

 Some food to be eaten.

Some more presents to be opened and played with.

Some cake to be made (first cake decorating ever for this new momma).
Some candles to be lit (Uncle David is trying to shield the candles from the wind, not keep warm by the flames).
One particular song to be sung.
And some cake and ice cream to be eaten.
 Or played with.
 Or offered to others.
Calvin also got to go to his first Hosta Fest.
And go to the log cabin
and drag his Aunt Marty all over.

What a nice weekend!
Thanks to all who came out to celebrate with us!
