Horsing Around

So Calvin loves his Grandma Sarah's wooden Swedish horse. On Saturday, he got the surprise of his little life after we visited the Swedish American Museum in Chicago.

Around the corner from the museum was this big Swedish horse.

 He wanted to hug it
 and kiss it
 and kiss it.
He was quite the happy little boy!
And was even cuter when we added the Santa hat.

Quite the fun surprise for all of us!

Discovering Discovery World

We recently visited a local "museum" of sorts. It's called Discovery World and was quite amazing.
There were tons of buttons and levers to play with.
Tons of buttons and levers for EVERYONE to play with.
Calvin had to check out the bed of nails.
There were so many things to climb on
and more buttons to press
and "antique" things to see.
He got to learn about fish
and levers
and pulleys.
Can't wait to go back!

Technical Difficulties

I am running into technical difficulties with uploading new photos. Very frustrating! So I will post what I can.

Here is a picture of Calvin from his art class. He made an orange from Playdoh.

I will post more when I can figure out how to fix what is going on.

Welcome Winter and Christmas

The day after Thanksgiving, our town had a Christmas parade. The temperature had dropped from the 60s to the 30s over night so we had to bundle up.
We had some beverages to warm us up.
The parade began with fire trucks, old and new.
There was so much for Calvin to look at, the camera was the last thing he wanted to look at.
 There were dancing Chinese dragons.
And the Dancing Grannies (that is their actual name).
And a Christmas train.
Calvin scrambled to pick up candy with the other kids.
He was quite excited and was yelling, "Halloween!" and "Candy!".
But he was disappointed when he couldn't figure out how to eat it.
Seeing some dogs cheered him up.
As did letting him have a lollipop.
Who was Daddy so excited to see?
 Ronald McDonald?
 No! It was Santa Claus!!!!!!!!
We officially have the Christmas spirit now.

18 Months of Mayheim

I haven't posted Calvin's monthly birthdays in a some time but 1 1/2 is worth noting.
He wanted to show off his stacking skills.
Look, closely.
Yes, he is stacking flat blocks on a rounded block.
 It actually is quite impressive.
Happy 18 month birthday, my big boy!

Another Visit with Jolene

We got to see baby Jolene again when her parents brought her to Lake Geneva for the weekend.
Such a cutie!
Calvin wanted to hold her hand again!
 Hello!
Grandma got to ogle over a new baby.
Grandma had a butterfly chair just Calvin's size.

The chair made Calvin make silly faces.
 And then act silly.
Jolene says "Get me away from this crazy kid."
Calvin was fascinated by her carseat.

Jolene is looking at him and thinking "I'm trapped and he's right there!"
He was trying to be a helper.
It made Jolene a little nervous
 But still very cute.
