Slip Sliding Away

Next to Auntie Erin and Uncle Byron's house is a "tot lot", meaning a playground for little kids. 

Calvin got to go down the slide. 

First Orson had to show him how to go down (or in this case, how NOT to go down). 

 Then it was Calvin's turn with Mommy.

 It was a race against Auntie Erin and Orson.

 Then Daddy and Orson.

 Then Calvin and Daddy.

 And then Calvin by himself (kinda).

 Calvin took a break to play in the mulch.

 And play on the bridge.

 Who's down there?

 Funny Auntie Erin was down there!

And Daddy played the ever-popular role as the scary monster.

What a great park to have next door!

ZOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

We made a trip to the Portland Zoo on a beautiful day!

 The boys got to ride a hippo.

 And catch a mouse.

 I love the look on Calvin's face in this one. Wish I knew what his little brain was thinking.

 We fed Calvin to the lions...

 ...which he enjoyed.

 And the boys played with the lion cubs.

 And I guess Calvin isn't afraid of snakes!

 And the big boy Orson got to climb a mountain.

 We stopped for snacks. Looks like Auntie Erin threw her popcorn all over the ground!

 And we did a lot of walking. 

There really were real animals there and not just statues but Calvin didn't really notice any of them. He was much more interested in seeing all the people.

Cousin Fun

Back to our trip. 

 Calvin and Orson got to have a lot of cousin time, starting in the car.

 In the chair.

In the grocery store.

 Where did Calvin go?

 Hanging out in the dining room.

 Sharing on the floor.

 And playing on the couch.

And that was just one morning!

Hippity Hoppity

We will get back to our pictures from the trip but we wanted to say Happy Easter!

We didn't get to visit the Easter Bunny so we staged our own Easter scene. 

 Calvin was a real sport and put up with the photo session as well as could be expected.

Cherry Blossoms

On Saturday, we all headed to the Portland Saturday Market.

 Auntie Erin is so strong!

 The cherry blossoms are in full bloom and we tried to take advantage of it by taking some photos. 

 It was hard to get everyone looking at the same camera at the same time.

 But we kept trying!

 Orson wanted to join our family photo.

 It was a beautiful day at the market!

First Night in Portland

We were so happy to arrive in Portland and begin our time with Auntie Erin, Uncle Byron and Cousin Orson. 

The boys (including the daddies) immediately gathered around the train table.

 Uncle Byron read the boys some books.

 More train table fun without the daddies.

 

 They had a little birthday party for me, complete with birthday hats.

A fun first night!

First Flight

Calvin took his first plane ride on Friday for our trip to Portland. 

Overall it went well. This is Calvin with Joan, a preschool teacher saint that shared a seat with us. She sang and played with Calvin when he was awake. She wanted to take him to Kansas City with her and we wanted her to come to Portland with us.

 Calvin got a kick out of sitting in his daddy's seat.

 There was time to kill during the layover so we found ways to entertain the little guy. 

Good to know he fits as a carry-on.

 Had to stretch his legs before the long leg of the trip.

He spent quite some time standing on the oh-so-spacious floor area in front of his mommy's seat.

Must not have gone too bad because I'm not completely dreading the flight home.
